Acura tl 2012 Model
t’s been three years since Acura grew its mid-size TL sedan into today’s big-boned bruiser with the guillotine grille. The controversy around the TL’s appearance has not diminished during the intervening years, and for those who wondered if Acura would tone down or completely abandon the controversial beak with its 2012 mid-cycle refresh, the mystery is over. Acura has taken the wraps off the refreshed 2012 TL for the Chicago auto show, and, as you can see, the beak is back.
But being somewhat flatter and a bit less knife-y, it is different. As is most of the rest of the front end, actually. Sure, you may have to put the 2011 and 2012 models side by side to see exactly where the changes have been made, but they’re there: the fascia has become more contoured, the headlamp bezels are darker, and the lower air intakes get new detailing. The rear end receives a touch-up, too, in the form of a new detailing and revised taillamps.
The 2012 TL’s interior gets minor trim changes and numerous noise, vibration, and harshness improvements. There also is a new, 60-gigabyte hard-drive-based infotainment/navigation system, which Acura says offers better functionality than the current system, an improvement we wholeheartedly welcome and look forward to verifying.
Sweeter news is the replacement of the current TL’s five-speed automatic with a that’s-more-like-it six-speed unit. Driving enthusiasts will note that the six-speed manual will continue to be offered on SH-AWD models, which feature Acura’s nifty, torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system. According to a spokesman, the manual is “one of those things that has a low take rate, but is important. Those who want it, love it.” (We loved it, too.)
Acura didn’t announce any changes in output for the 3.5-liter V-6 in front-drive examples, although it’s arguably plenty powerful already, with 280 hp at 6200 rpm and 254 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. All-wheel-drive TLs get the company’s 3.7-liter V-6 with 305 hp at 6300 rpm and 273 lb-ft of torque at 5000 rpm. Acura claims that the TL’s fuel economy will improve for 2012, thanks to aero improvements, the aforementioned six-speed auto, and reduced friction losses within the 3.5-liter engine.
Changes falling under the “miscellaneous” category include a new Advance option package that adds a blind-spot-detection system, ventilated front seats, and upgraded wheels. Speaking of wheels, the 19-inch wheel option for the TL SH-AWD ditches its performance rubber for new all-season tires.
Pricing for the new TL has not been announced, but an Acura spokesman told us that when the 2012 hits showrooms in mid-March, pricing will remain close to that of the 2011 model, which starts at $36,165 for the base front-driver to $44,445 for one with all-wheel drive and all the trimmings. What’s certain, however, is that the new, improved TL will make it harder than ever for Acura to move its slow-selling RL flagship, which even after receiving similar upgrades for 2011, remains a tough sell at $46,080 to $56,010. Maybe if the RL had ditched that grille . . .

The wait is over ladies and gentlemen: Lamborghini’s next hypercar has made its world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, and dare we say what a hypercar it is! The new Bull God will feature an earth shattering 700hp V12 and the highest power to weight ratio of any car in its class. Yes, this is the new, long waited Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4.
Lamborghini is really good at creating sinister super sports cars, but it is equally as talented at naming them. According to the company, "Aventador" was the name of a bull that entered into battle on October 1993 at the Saragossa Arena, earning the "Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera" for its outstanding courage. Having the courage to go up against a new world of super sports cars will be the name of the game for the new Lamborghini flagship. Today’s world is extremely high-tech and many new players have entered the arena. Lamborghini has been promoting its carbon-fiber monocoque technology and the Aventador’s 2.9 second 0-62mph, but will that be enough?
According to Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. "The Aventador is a jump of two generations in terms of design and technology, it’s the result of an entirely new project, but at the same time it’s a direct and consistent continuation of Lamborghini’s brand values. It is extreme in its design and its performance, uncompromising in its standards and technology, and unmistakably Italian in its style and perfection. Overall, the dynamics and technical excellence of the Aventador LP 700-4 makes it unrivalled in the worldwide super sports car arena."
UPDATE 03/04/2011: Lamborghini has placed an online configurator up for our greedy little consumption. We’d talk more about it, but we’re on our way over to build ourselves an Aventador!
UPDATE 04/29/2011:Shortly after the Aventador’s official debut at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Lamborghini was pleased to announce that the super car had been sold out for the 2011 model year. Now, the company can puff out its chest that much more since the Aventador is now sold out for the next 18 months!
Hit the jump to read more on the new Aventador.

According to Japanese magazine Mag X, here is what we should expect from the 2012 Honda CR-V. Basically, slightly larger and a design that's a bit more Anime-like.
According to a Mag X article helpfully translated by the good folks at the Honda-happy Temple of VTEC, the 2012 CR-V will be based on the current platform and feature the same K24a 2.4-liter inline four as well as the 2.0-liter in FWD configurations only. The European model will receive the i-DTEC diesel engine, though there are no immediate plans to sell that configuration anywhere else. The U.S. will not receive a V6 option this time around. It's heavily rumored that Honda will completely revise its engine lineup for the 2012 CR-V's mid-cycle refresh, but what that means at this point is anybody's guess.
We're also told exterior design should be finalized by November of this year, with an announcement date of September of 2011, with a formal introduction taking place in October of 2011 at the Tokyo Motor Show.
If you were to believe the Mag X-provided illustration, then we'll likely see a more anime-styled CR-V for 2012 rather than the quirky model that's currently on the market. The design is scheduled to be finalized around November of this year with its public debut occuring at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show. [via TOV]

Come September 20th the 2012 Honda Accord is likely to run a 'coupe' on the competition. As it is styled almost identical to the Honda Accord Coupe Concept that premiered in Detroit in January, there is sure to be shock and awe at the sleek and sexy look of the newly revised Accord. Inside and out it has been thoroughly restyled and you have to give Honda kudos for what they have done.
This year's model comes with an optional V-6 engine in addition to its standard 5 speed automatic and manual transmissions. The V-6 Accord coupe has a six speed tranny and pumps out a mega dose of 268 horsepower, making sure to get you going. Though the new styling has left a bit to be desired in the notchy shift with a bit of an abrupt clutch take-up, it still has new power.
Honda made a big change inside both with its styling and its features. The navigation controls were changed to be similar to an iDrive knob and more than 30 buttons surround the screen. This may be daunting to some, and it certainly isn't a touch-screen which many favored. Still they have added 5 extra cubic feet and changed things around to make it more luxurious, or so they say. Other features that have been changed are the fold down rear seat which is no longer split. It's either all cargo or all passengers in the back seat now.
